Banqueting House Venue Hire SW1

The Banqueting House is the perfect place to entertain. Built in the 17th-century as an opulent setting for royal banquets, balls and masques it still creates a glittering backdrop for any occasion. The crowning glory of the main hall is the masterpiece of the famous Flemish artist, Sir Peter Paul Rubens. Special occasions such as charity events, dazzling social gatherings, musical and theatrical performances have all been held here. The auspicious surroundings also provide an excellent backdrop for corporate functions and blue-chip meetings.

The regal Banqueting House is a venue fit for a King. The vaulted Undercroft offers an atmospheric drinks space while the Main Hall upstairs promises surroundings like no other for the ultimate feast. Banqueting House is a spectacular venue which once hosted the Court’s infamous ‘masque’ parties. Today Banqueting House is available for exclusive events. The Grade I listed building is one of the finest examples of Palladian style architecture in England. Each of the venue’s event spaces are available for hire offer a spectacular setting for special events, adorned with glittering chandeliers. The venue’s event spaces consist of the following:

  • MAIN HALL- Charles I commissioned Rubens to paint the magnificent ceiling in the Main Hall and this grand and versatile venue is perfect for banquets, conferences and dinners. However, it wasn’t so perfect for King Charles in the end – he was executed here in 1649.
  • THE UNDERCROFT- The Undercroft was a favourite haunt of James I. His private drinking den is wonderfully atmospheric for drinks receptions or a candlelit dinner.
